We had a great time yesterday at our last baking trip of the semester! We made three types of muffins, since we had so much fun last time we made them. It was also volunteer appreciation week at the RMDH, so we got some aprons, which is so fitting for our group! We have enjoyed volunteering with everyone so much, and can’t wait to see you all again in the fall!!🧁🤍

MediKids is so grateful to have participated in the 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping DanceBlue Marathon as a team for the very first time this year! 2.4 million dollars was raised for the Golden Matrix Fund, which supports the kids and families in the pediatric hematology/oncology clinic at UK’s hospital! It was an incredible experience, and we are so proud of our team! 🎗️💙⭐️🧸

We had a great time hanging out, coloring, and playing with paper airplanes with the kids! We were also able to donate around 20 hand-made fleece blankets to all the kids who came. Such a special moment honoring our current President Julia, at her last trip to SAC with MediKids. We hope to see her on the other side with the UK M1s next year! 🩷🤍🌷

On 3/24 some of our leaders visited the RISE STEM Academy for girls and hosted an activity making structures out of jellybeans and toothpicks! We had so much fun doing this spring craft, and the girls loved it! 🌸🍬🍭

Last Friday, we were grateful to collaborate with AllergyCats here on campus to lead a fun activity with the kids at Maxwell Elementary teaching them all about food allergies. We had a great time and the kids loved it!! So proud of all of our members! 🤍🩺

We have been super involved with the Ronald McDonald House recently!! Sunday was our first trip back to the RMDH after spring break! It was great to see everyone and we made some spring-themed M&M cookies for the house!! If you’re interested in getting involved, we will be cooking dinner next on 4/6 and baking on 4/12. Some of our members visited the Rise STEM Academy for Girls last week and taught the kids some facts about the heart for Valentine’s Day! We then showed them how to make origami hearts that they could decorate!🥰🫀🫶🏻

Some of our amazing members got the chance to visit the Lexington Leadership Foundation’s after-school program on Tuesday afternoon. We led a super fun activity all about germs 🦠 and had a great time hanging out with the kids!! Looking forward to our next visit on 03/24! So proud of these lovely leaders!! 💚🩺

We had lots of fun decorating them together, and we look forward to our next trip to bake on 3/1! So proud of our amazing members! Our MediKids Pre-PA cohort will be having a meeting on 2/10 at 6:30 pm in CP 297. They will be making Valentine’s Day cards for the children’s hospital and going over helpful CASPA tips! We would love for anybody and everybody to come, these cards put a huge smile on the kids faces!! 💌🤍

On Sunday we baked for the house, and we made 3 different types of cookies!!! 🍪On Monday, we went back and cooked dinner: tomato soup and grilled cheese, which was perfect for the cold day! We had so much fun spending time together volunteering at the house as always and look forward to our next trip baking on 2/15!! 💖😋🧁
